Episode 37: Money Does Not Demand your Perfection
Money Does Not Demand your Perfection. It never has.
I said these words in an Instagram post a little while back, and ever since it’s been one of my favourite topics.
In this episode, I’m going to dive in again, and talk about exactly what this means. We’re going to talk about how we’ve personified money as this entity you can never be good enough for, never work enough for, never reach high enough expectations for. If this sounds familiar, here’s your reminder: money is not a person! Society is the thing that is demanding your perfection, and it’s up to us to challenge this as the real humans that we are - flaws, strengths, and everything on the table.
Listen to the episode to hear me chat about how to do this, and why the typical idea of professionalism is the idea of what is professional is largely racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist, ableist, fatphobic bullshit. You can make money with ease exactly as you are, right now.

QUOTES
“We have muddled up society deeming us worthy with us BEING worthy, both from a kind of more existential, ‘what am I worth as a human’, but also from an absolute self-worth place. And then in turn… we've muddled that up with us deserving or being given permission to make money.”
“I think it's professional to be polite and kind - that doesn't mean unboundaried. I think it's professional to deliver on what you said you would deliver. I think it's professional to speak to people with respect. You can do that with your hair looking anyway, you can do that in any accent, in any body.”
“If you're feeling pressure and if you're thinking, ‘I don't quite fit into this’, there are loads of ideal clients also feeling that way. And if you can present them with something else, they will flock to you.”
